For Amaresh, a trained dancer and yoga teacher, yoga is the complete alignment of the mind, body and breath.

“I am a trained actor and dancer, for whom yoga only meant asanas. I’d never really looked at a specific fitness form, since dancing kept me active and agile.

It was only when I did a theatre course at Ninasan that I was introduced to yoga. And I was hooked.

It has been nine years till date since I’ve been practicing yoga, and I’ve never looked back.

I came across a1000yoga in 2012 and it was an eye-opening moment for me. That was when I realised the vastness and extent of traditional yoga. You could say that was a New Beginning.

My instructor, Pradeep, encouraged me to teach and it was with his help and guidance that I completed the teacher training course.

I have come to realise that yoga goes far beyond the body. It is health for the mind as well. Through the right practise of yoga, one can align the body, the mind and breath for a holistic result.

For me, yoga is a way of life. The flexibility and calmness that washes over my mind keeps me grounded and content. I have no desires and no regrets in life. I take life as it comes.

This is what I wish to pass on to my students as well. By combining asanas with meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises), anybody can open their mind and get clarity of though.

I want to share the knowledge that I have gained over the years with as many people as I can. I continue to enhance my skills and have completed a Yoga Vedanta course at Rishikesh, and 300 Hours, an advanced course at a1000yoga.”

Make Yoga part of Life

The principles laid out in Patanjali’s yoga sutras dating back to 500 B.C. are still very relevant today, even in our modern information world. Yoga has evolved a lot from the days of Patanjali; it has taken different forms to meet the varying needs of practitioners all along its journey.
