SruthySruthy’s first encounter with Yoga was at Chinmaya Vidyalaya that included chanting and simple practices. She eventually became a Math graduate, and also learned software programming for a profession in IT. When she had a shoulder injury, she was practicing Yoga again and that “changed my life in every way and then it became a profession too.” Sruthy finished her first TTC with Soham Yoga school and spent some time teaching there. At that time, she was teaching elderly practitioners and had to mould the classes to their particular health concerns. Later she also completed her 200Hr TTC from the Sivananda Ashram, Sikkim. In an attempt to improve her sadhana (personal practice) she pursued a 300Hr TTC with a1000yoga. She has been teaching for 4 years and specializes in Hata and Sivananda styles of Yoga. Sruthy loves to practice the Ashtanga Vinyasa sequence. “I plan my classes to help practitioners create an awareness and it should help them extend that awareness to their daily life.”

“Yoga means awareness. It’s a lifestyle, simplicity, experiencing every moment as it is and gratitude towards it.”

Make Yoga part of Life

The principles laid out in Patanjali’s yoga sutras dating back to 500 B.C. are still very relevant today, even in our modern information world. Yoga has evolved a lot from the days of Patanjali; it has taken different forms to meet the varying needs of practitioners all along its journey. Yoga continues to accept all changes, like the ocean accepts the river, absorbs, assimilates and grows. (A distinctive feature of sanaatan dharma of India)
