New Year Resolution 2015

We have often asked ourselves the question “ What is my purpose in life ? “

“ Sankalpa ”, literally a Noble Resolution, has been used by sadhaks (spiritual aspirants) to achieve their personal and larger purpose of life. Achievement in life starts with a clear Goal in mind; that’s half the achievement. The other half is more of an eventuality.

A true Sankalpa:

  1. is a life Goal (one Sankalpa for life)
  2. not limited to an individual but for a larger good
  3. is not just intellectual desire but subconscious calling
  4. all of self aligns to the Sankalpa ( Pancha koshas and 3 states of consciousness )
  5. is Liberating and not Limiting,

We all, at some time, have had a new year resolution. Most revolve around HEALTH – Physical, Mental, Emotional, Relationships and Financial Health. New year resolutions are one way of getting closer to our Sankalpa. In our effort to realise our sankalpa, resolutions act as stepping stones or milestones. Resolutions should progressively lead to our sankalpa. Sankalpa is the beautiful mala and the resolutions are the beads, stringed together.

Most often than not we have not been able to sustain our resolutions beyond a few weeks, in some cases a few months. Reasons could be many, wrong resolution, lack of self motivation, lack of external support system, lack of tools to achieve etc.

How do we make a difference this new year? Can this New Year’s resolution make more sense?  Add value to your life? Can we be stronger and wiser on the other side of it?  Can it lead us to our true purpose in life?
