*****Guideline for spiritual life*****

You should perform actions with a balanced mind in success and failure. Equilibrium is Yoga. The attainment of the knowledge of the Self through purity of heart which is obtained by doing actions without expectation of fruits or results is called success. Failure is the non attainment of knowledge by doing actions with expectations

Swami Sivananda Saraswati

The weekend objective was to unwind, relax and move away from the daily routine and discover a new secret within you dedicated to yoga, pranayama, meditation and introspection.

• The Holistic Huddle: Community is where the heart is and nothing spells a better bond between teacher and student that time spent over good, sattvic food. Our Koramangala & JP Nagar studio community got together over fresh food prepared with love and consideration to share over a potluck. The pictures of the delicacies and smiles brought a feeling of much joy and ambience at our studios. Stay tuned for more such events to join in next time!

• Iyengar Workshop: a1000yoga is constantly finding ways to enrich our students and teachers learning experience with programs and workshops from teachers with diverse backgrounds and styles. This workshop delivered by Dr. Zarina Mubaraki from the lineage of BKS Iyengar with a focus of the structural alignment of the body by working on specific asanas.

• Maha Shivarathri Celebrations: All great events start small with the first step, and with respects to our initiation and yoga education, at a1000yoga we set a new parampara, a tradition, to come together with our Principal Teacher and observe traditionally, culturally and religiously important days of the year together as a community of yoga practitioners. This Maha Shivarathri, our celebrations included a pooja, followed by a short talk on Shiva, Yoga and Natya, finishing with a beautiful dance performance by our own alumnus Ashwini Kaikini and group.

    Home Studio: Indiranagar

What led you to take up teaching yoga? I have seen my teacher since my young age, so dedicated and committed to his guru serving people around in my small town. I would like to be at least 2% of what he does

When you aren’t teaching yoga, you like to…. Work on music, Be on the beach / in nature by myself

What is that unique quality that connects you with your practitioners? I guess simplicity

A book that made a difference / music that never fails to move you…. The book of Man – Osho, House Music

A favourite quote….. “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there” – Rumi

A personal challenge you overcame through yoga.. To believe in myself, that things can change.

What inspires you? To see dedicated students on the mat every day, Practitioners in the studio inspire me to keep it going

Your 2017 resolution: To never have one, let things change when it has to, let me relax take it as it comes

Any advice to practitioners to commit / recommit themselves to their practice in the New Year? Don’t take any advice, your practice is your own, ask yourself if you do things in line with your conscience.

    Make Yoga part of Life

The principles laid out in Patanjali’s yoga sutras dating back to 500 B.C. are still very relevant today, even in our modern information world. Yoga has evolved a lot from the days of Patanjali; it has taken different forms to meet the varying needs of practitioners all along its journey. Yoga continues to accept all changes, like the ocean accepts the river, absorbs, assimilates and grows. (A distinctive feature of sanaatan dharma of India)
